Sex, Love, and Intimacy - October 3, 2018 Column

It is not strange that public school sex education says little or nothing about love, much less the love of God.

It IS strange that what many Christian parents and Christian youth group leaders teach about sex would not be any different if God as Jesus had not come to Earth to show us the essence of love, as depicted on the cover of this book.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift from God (to live and share the Gospel)
Jesus rules by love, not law!

Sermon on June 19, 2016  (Gospel reading for fifth Sunday after Pentecost)

Jesus is our Constitution

Fatherhood is Deeper Than a Day - A quarter of American Families do not have a biological dad in the home.  Since Christians address their God as "Father" and we believe that "God is love" we have an obligation to improve fatherhood.

On Easter Mountain - The Easter Sunrise Sermon at the 2013 Wisconsin Dells Ministerial Association  ecumenical Easter sunrise service.  It is relevant for any time of the year.  It's what I wish I would have told my children when they were growing up.

Newspaper Columns and Other Short Articles

Do We Really Need Moralistic Preaching? - God came to earth and interacted with a few people for a little over three years.  And he died for all of us.  We should be suspicious if all he left us was a bunch of sin lists with the instructions, "Don't do these things."

Being the Peace That We Want for the World - Quoting Isaiah 59:8, Paul tells the Romans, "The way of peace they do not know." (Rom 3:17)   Nothing much has changed since in the approximately 2700 years since Isaiah wrote those words.   It's even hard to make a case that Christians know the way to peace.  What if I told you that there is a prayer that Jesus promised to answer affirmatively that would guarantee that Jesus' followers can contribute to family, community, and world peace?  Would you pray that prayer?

Must There Always Be an "Us and Them"? - As a free gift God has done everything needed to save us all.  But we must accept that gift.

Christian Discussions About Same-sex Marriage Can Be Respectful  - three columns on that subject plus a link to a short video clip by N. T. Wright.

Is the Bible a Rule Book for Living?

The Bible has been called a  "rule book for living"?   Others are concerned about whether a church believes the Bible is "literal", "inerrant", or "inspired".   People often argue over the exact meaning of these terms.

Preach the Word - a short article - It doesn't mean preach the morality of the Bible!

Effective January 1, 2012, Grace Fellowship at Wisconsin Dells, WI, USA has transitioned from a traditional church that meets weekly on Sunday to a media, mail, and visiting ministry to our scattered members. I have encouraged our members to fellowship with, and support, local churches in their respective areas. My wife Karen and I are doing the same.  Click here for a letter to our local newspaper that explains our situation.  I hope that the content on this site will help you "...believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name." I believeÖ

  • In one holy, loving, all-powerful, and gracious Creator God who exists in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

  • That the Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God, fully authoritative for all matters of faith and practice. ∑ That Jesus Christ, born of the virgin Mary, fully God and fully human, is both Lord and Savior.

  • That Jesus Christ suffered and died on the cross for human sin, that he was raised bodily on the third day, and that he ascended to heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father.

  • That Jesus Christ will come again to judge the living and the dead and to reign over all things.

  • In the Holy Spirit, who brings sinners to repentance, who gives eternal life to believers, and who lives in them to conform them to the image of Jesus Christ.

  • That Christians should gather in regular fellowship and live lives of faith that make evident the good news that humans enter the kingdom of God by putting their trust in Jesus Christ.

  • In the spiritual unity of all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

  • That salvation comes not by works, but only by Godís grace through faith in Jesus Christ.

  • In the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come.
